Set up: Email in Microsoft Outlook

This article will show the steps involved in setting up Microsoft Outlook in your computer.


If you have got yourself a new internet connection, you must have got a user user name and password along with that. This also gives you access to an email account with your internet service provider. But, if you are logging in to your ISP's website every time to check your mails, it means you are unaware of email clients, which help your retrieve all your emails and enable to read them offline.

In this article, we will learn how to set up one such email client, Microsoft Outlook in your computer.

Microsoft Outlook
is part of your Windows operating system.

Access it by clicking Start > Programs.
  • In Microsoft Outlook, select Tools > E-mail Accounts.



  • The E-mail Accounts pop-up window is displayed.

  • Select the radio button Add a new e-mail account.

  • Click Next.





  • For your server type, select POP3.

  • Click Next.



  • On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter your information as follows:

    • Your Name: Enter your first and last name.
    • E-mail Address: Enter your e-mail address.
    • User Name: Enter your e-mail address, again.
    • Password: Enter the password you set up for your e-mail account.
    • Incoming mail server (POP3): Your incoming server is yourisp.com, where it is the name of your domain.
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Your outgoing mail server is also yourisp.com

  • Click More Settings.



  • On the Internet E-mail Settings window, select Outgoing Server tab.

  • Select  My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.

  • Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

  • Click OK.



  • Select the  Advanced  tab.

  • Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port to 80 or 3535.

  • Click OK.



  • You will again reach the E-mail accounts windows.

  • Click Next.

  • This will take you to a new E-mail accounts window.

  • Click Finish.



Your email is configured in Microsoft Outlook and you are ready to go!
